Diabetes mellitus, commonly known as diabetes is a condition of our body when blood sugar levels are very high. From the we eat daily produces Glucose inside our body. The hormone Insulin inside a human body helps to move your cells to give energy to glucose.

Under these condition, your body either does not make enough insulin or can not effectively use insulin that makes it.

Uncontrolled high blood sugar from diabetes can damage your nerves, eyes, kidneys and other organs. Moreover, it can cause heart disease, stroke and even the need for removal of an organ.

Type 1 Diabetes

Under these condition, your body becomes incapable of producing the hormone called insulin. Meaning that now it makes it difficult to your body in transferring the energy to cells.

With Type 1 diabetes, the immune system attacks and destroys cells in the pancreas.

Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is most common. Under these situation, your body does not make or use insulin well. This undesirable thing cause glucose to stays in your blood.

If your body becomes resistant to insulin then it probably a case of Type 2 Diabetes.

Pre-Diabetes

You may also have pre-diabetes. If blood sugar is higher than normal but not enough to be called diabetes, then in medical term, we refer it as pre-diabetes.

Prediabetes can make you at a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Gestational diabetes

Its mainly occur during the stage of pregnancy. The main reason which causes Gestational diabetes melatus is considered to be caused due to the Insulin-blocking hormone produced by the placenta.

Male Specific symptoms

Especially men with diabetes suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED), and poor muscle strength.

Female Specific Symptoms

Women suffering from diabetes may also have urinary tract infections and dry, itchy skin symptoms.

Risk Factor or Causes

Type 1 Diabetes– Its very much likely that a children with his / her parents suffered from it, then they also might get suffered from type 1 diabetes. Means its somewhat related to genes and heredity.

Type 2 Diabetes– Older age, Overweight, being suffered from prediabetes, high intake of cholesterol inside your body can be considered to be the influencing factors for it.

Gestational diabetes– It can be caused mainly due to the factors like giving birth to a baby of heavier weight. Another factor might be family background of type 2 diabetes or overweight condition of body.

Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus

Type 1 diabetes– As treatment, intake of insulin is given in form of capsules. Based on the timing an insult takes to come into action and its effective hour, insulin is grouped into different categories.

Rapid-acting insulin

work within 15 minutes and its effects last for 3 to 4 hours.

Short-acting insulin

work within 30 minutes and lasts 6 to 8 hours.

Intermediate-acting insulin

work within 1 to 2 hours and lasts 12 to 18 hours.

Long-acting insulin

work a few hours after injection and lasts longer than 24 hours.

Type 2 Diabetes– If a person suffering from this condition starts to taking care of oneself diet and exercise, then it might prove to be a boon for health condition of body.

Some drugs like Biguanides, Metformin, Linagliptin, Canagliflozin  might help to reduce blood pressure.

Gestational diabetes– On daily basis particularly during pregnancy period, you need to monitor blood sugar level.
