Tributes threw the professional wrestling and entertainment worlds on Wednesday evening for Rocky Johnson, a wrestling legend and the father of the Hollywood star, “The Rock ” Johnson, who died at the age of 75.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced Johnson’s death on his website on Wednesday and said it is “sad to learn” from the veteran-Stoegg’s death.

He is not yet able to publicly comment on the death of his father.

Rocky Johnson, born Wayde Douglas Bowles, started his wrestling career in 1964 and competed for the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and WWE, then known as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). In WWE, Rocky Johnson was half the first black tall team that won with his mate Tony Atlas, the World Tag Team Championships.

Rocky Johnson married in the famous Samocene wrestling dynasty, the Anoa’i family, when he married his mother, Ata Maivia, the daughter of the “high Chief ” Peter Maivia, in 1970. Née Yne Johnson was born in 1972.
