Jeff Capel, the coach of the Pitt, ended the school’s most decorated basketball prospect in eight years when the second nanny Jaland Hood-Schifino, a native of Penn Hills, was committed orally on his Instagram post.
Pitt has not yet recruited a top-20 prospect since Jamie Dixon signed the future NBA star Steven Adams in 2012.
Hood-Schifino, £185.00, is the 17th overall prospect in the class of 2022 by Rivals.com and the Nr. 25 through 247Sports. He is the fifth rankings and a five-star prospect on 247Sports’s national rankings. Rivals consider him a quadrister.
With three seasons high school basketball before him, Hood-Schifino will only join Pitt’s team in the season 2022-23.
However, he was heavily recruited by various schools, including Clemson, Florida, Ole Miss, Boston College, USF, Wake Forest and Wichita states.
Schifino, who plays at the Combine Academy in Charlotte, NC, is a native of Penn Hills and the cousin of the former basketball court player Penn Hills and West Virginia, and the former recipient of the Tennessee Titans, Jake Schifino. His cousin, DeAndre Schifino, played a football at Pitt.
